mobile phones on contract - Bad Credit? No problem!

The long-awaited Android 2.1 update is finally touching down on Xperia X10 brand smartphones from Sony Ericsson, many months after it was initially rumoured to be on the way.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 blackReports suggest that the first customers are being given the update, although Sony Ericsson has yet to confirm that UK users are going to reap the benefits of Android 2.1 in the immediate future.

The Xperia X10 and its Mini and Mini Pro variants are the key recipients of this update. The full sized X10 arrived earlier in the year and many reviews were critical for its measly Android 1.6 operating system, which over time has looked even more archaic.

Reviews of the Xperia X10 Mini and Mini Pro were perhaps more positive than for their expansive siblings, but again Android 1.6 was seen as a hurdle that needed to be overcome before true success could be achieved.

Android 2.1 brings several significant improvements over its predecessors, including overhauled social networking tools, better navigation via Google Maps and even tweaked software keypad support. There are many apps on the Android Market which are only compatible with version 2.x and above, so the Xperia X10 handset will benefit from wider software support as well.
