A smartphone bearing the brand of supercar manufacturer Lamborghini has been launched in Hong Kong, bringing all of the pomp and circumstance across from the race track and to the palm of your hand.
The Lamborghini Spyder smartphone is set to retail for around £1100 for the basic model, although there are costlier versions which bring the price point even further out of reach to the general public.
Despite its high price the Lamborghini smartphone is a little light on high end specs. The 2.2 inch display is a real minnow compared to the four inch plus devices regularly showcased by manufacturers like HTC and Samsung. In addition the three megapixel camera and four gigs of onboard storage mean that the specs are roughly on par with a mid range Nokia handset.
Things get a lot more interesting when you consider the materials which can be used to produce this smartphone. For example, there is an option to have crocodile skin stitched onto the rear of the device, which is definitely a step up from the plastic and metal usually found on mobiles.
The display case in which the Lamborghini Spyder smartphone is shipped is another work of boutique opulence – it is finished in steel and has pneumatic arms to hold the lid.
