HTC actually announced the HTC Edge in November 2011 with an estimated release date just prior to the Consumer Electronics Show 2012 in Las Vegas. The latest word is that HTC has already scheduled and sent invitations to their press release on 26 February, the day prior to the Mobile World Congress opening in Barcelona, Spain.
Whilst other manufacturers, such as Sony, Nokia and Huawei also holding their own events then, let’s take a look at the HTC Edge, whose release we believe will be announced soon.
Overview
The HTC Edge will be HTC’s first quad-core mobile phone, and for that reason alone, industry attention is tightly focused on this smartphone. Each Tegra 3 core is clocked at 1.5 GHz, projecting few lags or snags during intense operations and between different-focus operations.
The HD-resolution display will only enhance the HD video, which has a capture resolution of 1080p. The latest Bluetooth version, 4.0, is also expected on board.
We have noted below that the OS is [read: we hope will be] Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Whilst there is nothing wrong with Gingerbread, per se, shoving this mobile phone out the door without Android’s newest and brightest would seem a shame.
