mobile phones on contract - Bad Credit? No problem!

Continuing our new tradition, let’s start off today’s posts with a quick news round-up regarding mobile phones, smartphones, flip phones and some of the best mobile phone plans and deals from around the globe.

Windows Operating Systems

Windows 7.5 Mango is barely dry around the e-edges, but Microsoft hasn’t stopped its development wheels from churning out updates and new platforms altogether.

It has recently announced that Windows Tango, a Win 7.x OS, will be both announced and launched at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2012. Tango will be loaded onto the Nokia 719 and the Lumina 900, neither of which have officially been announced as of this date.

The Tango is reported to bring LTE support and compatibility to smaller displays.

And if that wasn’t enough, Microsoft will also launch Windows Apollo, the version codenamed Windows Phone 8, operating system, in June 2012 during the Nokia Connection 2012. The Apollo will bring to the mobile phone table dual core processor compatibility for even faster operations, high-resolution displays and NFC technology. It’s uncertain if or how much of a User Interface change might arrive as well.

We freely admit that some of this information isn’t exactly official, so there might be some errors in it, but we’ll accept the rumour as just that – rumours and unsubstantiated leaks from inside sources.

We’ll let you know when we hear something on it.

Nokia 800 Battery Fix

For the users already frustrated with the poor battery performance in the Nokia 800, be patient: A battery fix is coming in January 2012.

According to Nokia, the problem isn’t with the battery itself but from a glitch that is

“…limiting the phone’s ability to access the full battery capacity.”

There’s a way to determine if your Nokia mobile phone is experiencing the power access glitch:

Fully charge the battery.
Press ##634#, which will grant access to the Service Menu.
Select Battery Status.

If the reading is less than 1000 mAh, you have a glitch. Don’t toss the phone. The fix is coming soon.

AT&T and T-Mobile

No, this isn’t about a lawsuit. Some time ago, AT&T and T-Mobile wanted to merge. In the US, the merger had to be approved because of anti-monopoly laws there. The merger was immediately challenged by a few government agencies, and in light of the latest rounds of opposition, it’s cancelled.

That’s right: AT&T backs out of the T-Mobile merger, which came as no surprise to many but disappointed stockholders as share prices fell.
