HTC’s Trophy won a top-viewed slot on Amazon’s viewed list this Christmas 2011 season. The news came as a bit of a surprise to us, not because it isn’t a decent mobile phone but that the model was introduced into the market in May 2011. Usually, the mobile phones and smartphones released during the last four months of a year gain the most user interest at holiday time.

That age distinction prompted us to take a closer look at the HTC Trophy, and here’s what we found.

Overview

Unsurprising in this model, there is no external memory card slot. Microsoft offers Cloud or Internet-based storage options instead. Users, however, have mixed feelings about this, for it requires additional data plan usage when syncing with a computer for download then upload from that device isn’t always convenient and is definitely more cumbersome than simply slipping in a microSD card for expanded memory.

The phone model itself, though, is sleek, slim and comfortable. Rounded edges prevent pokes and gouges while maintaining a very attractive profile.

Additional comments: Reasonably poor battery performance against industry averages. As with many Win Phn 7 devices, there is no external memory expansion, countered by Microsoft’s Cloud storage option. Corning Gorilla Glass display screen protection. Has Stereo FM with RDS. Facebook integration. MP3 / AAC+ / WAV / WMA9 player. / MP4 / WMV9 player. Document viewer and editor options. No secondary or front camera.

Overall opinion: Pretty decent model that’s well worth a look.
