After the much anticipated release of the iPad Mini, Apple surprised everyone by announcing yet another new iPad, the iPad 4, which is set to be released sometime in November. Just in time for the holiday season. While sales are already soaring for the iPad Mini, the release of the iPad 4 will no doubt also boost sales of the previous model (the iPad 3) once it’s price is lowered. Now, consumers will be faced with 3 choices, come Christmas time. If you’re looking to buy one for yourself, or give one as a gift, here are is a quick comparison.

iPad Mini: Apple’s first small tablet, the iPad Mini is up against some serious competition in the 8″ tablet market. Although it is priced slightly lower than it’s cousins the iPad 3 and iPad 4, it is still in the premium pricing category, making it one of the most expensive tablets in it’s arena. It’s main selling point will be it’s size, being that plenty of consumers have complained about the size of traditional tablets (between 9 and 10 inches), and that Apple did not have an option for a smaller tablet. Although it is ultra compact, it does not lack any features or luxuries you’d come to expect from an iPad. In many categories, it competes directly with the iPad 3 and 4, which means it packs a lot of punch for a smaller device.

iPad 3: The iPad 3 is a vast improvement from the previous model, with key improvements that make it a much more worthy investment when compared to the iPad 2. This model offers 4G LTE support (up from just 3G) and a 5MP camera (up from a shocking .7MP). With it’s inevitable price drop once the iPad 4 is available, and it’s OS upgradeable to the latest iOS 6.0, the iPad 3 is a worthy contender long after it’s release

iPad 4: Being released only 8 months after the previous version, the newest iPad will be an incremental upgrade, which is normal in the iPad family, as well as in all Apple products. The improvements are notable, however, with the iPad 4 running with the latest Apple A6X chipset, and boasting a much more powerful front-facing camera, which is ideal for those who love FaceTime video calling.
