mobile phones on contract - Bad Credit? No problem!

In the mobile tablet industry, the mobile world seems paused for Mobile World Congress in February. News lines find fewer leaks available between CES and MWC than at any time during the rest of the year. However, we do have some update news for you today.

Asus Transformer Prime Fix Rolled Out

The Asus Transformer Prime tablet is barely on the market, and already it’s undergone a few larger software updates. Another one has rolled off the racks, and this one is supposed to fix the GPS issues that some units have experienced.

Asus has stated that the problem is with the hardware, not the software, so few understand how a software update shall overcome a hardware issue. Nonetheless, a percentage of the users who have already downloaded the update state that the problem seems to be fixed. Others state, though, that there is no difference.

The update roll-out includes more than just a possible placebo-ish, minor adjustment to GPS. It also contains updates for the camera software and improves the web browser performance.

Be aware, however, that the update package breaks root, which should be remembered before automatically downloading.

Although feedback regarding the GPS fix is mixed, the other enhancements and improvements might make this update worthwhile.

RIM’s PlayBook OS 2.0 Update Soon

After long delay, RIM has reportedly determined a 17 February release date for its BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 software update.

The update brings along a new email client, a calendar app and a contacts list that is linked with LinkedIn.

Prior investigation discovered Android apps operating on the mobile device, and RIM developers confirm that Android developers can submit Android apps to BlackBerry AppWorld for review for compatibility.

If the roll-out date for the update is accurate, the PlayBook would have languished 10 months without an update – far longer than RIM’s competitors. If RIM hopes to fulfil its plans for two new tablets this year and hope to succeed, it must prove that it can run with the tablet leaders in attention and improvement upon its current products: Even brand-loyal consumers tire of inattention, and new buyers will head elsewhere with their money.
