mobile phones on contract - Bad Credit? No problem!

Finishing up today’s Mobile News from around the mobile phone industry, read on for information on the Consumer Electronics Show or CES 2012 and the Mobile World Congress, as well as some user whiplash aim at Motorola.

Corning Upgrades Gorrilla Glass

Corning is famous for its Gorilla Glass, that super-tough glass that helps protect our smartphones from scratches, dings and dents. It’s almost unfathomable that Corning could improve on such a marvellous product: They have, though, and they’re showcasing it at the international CES 2012 in Las Vegas in just a few days.

Tagged with the … inspiring … name of Gorilla Glass 2 (pausing here for effect), the improved glass can be seen at booth #12642 in Central Hall: Mark your floor maps and go see it in action.

The Corning experts will be glad to outline all the uses outside the mobile device applications, too.

RIM to Showcase OS at MWC

Already slated for the 2012 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February is RIM’s presentation of their new BlackBerry OS, v10, previously known as the BBX.

Whilst RIM won’t be announcing any mobile phones that are driven by the OS 10 during the Congress, they do plan on presenting a model or two later in the year.

It looks so far like the first model to appear will be during the third quarter when the BlackBerry London is released.

We should have at least a little information on that model tomorrow.

Moto Backlash on Bootloaders

Following on the heels of HTC’s promise to unlock a whole slew of Android mobile phones, users are ranting at Motorola for the same privilege.

Even ASUS is unlocking the Transformer Prime.

Motorola promised early in 2011 to unlock the bootloaders in its phone, but they followed through with only a very few models. Users want the rest of the Android catalogue unlocked as well and as promised.

We’ll see how well Motorola reacts to the customer demand to uphold that promise and how it affects Motorola’s bottom line.
