In today’s Mobile News round-up, we have a bit of a mistake, a cool new app and a touch of sun. Puzzled? Read on for details and clarification.
Mistake in Anymode
Perhaps that heading should read “of,” but we’re playing with words. Apparently, so did Anymode, an accessory maker, when they announced they had been chosen by AT&T to produce the OEM accessories for the Galaxy Note, coming in early February.
Although many have tried, no one can find the error in the information that prompted the bad info retraction that followed shortly thereafter.
Unless the error was in letting it slip that AT&T was getting the Note and that they’d have it in early 2012.
Oops. Beat the Big Dogs to the bone, and you get slammed into the doghouse: Right after the retraction, came AT&T’s hastily written announcement that they were releasing a branded Note in February.
TiVo App Comes to Android
TiVo has released its very own app that provides the same great TiVo features you get from the box. The catch is that the app doesn’t work on laptops or tablets with 10-inch screens, just on smartphones and mini-tablets of the 7-inch range.
Services on the app mirror the “real world” services: You still get the advanced TV schedule and the ability to record shows and films, manage your recorded content. Netflix, Amazon’s Instant Video and Blockbuster are also accessible through the TiVo Android app.
The TiVo app also provides a sharing feature for Facebook and Twitter.
Premier membership in TiVo grant additional benefits and options, of course.
Sun Shines on Nokia – Almost
Nokia joins the ranks of mobile phone manufacturers who have attempted to create a solar mobile phone. They found it just as
“challenging”
…as the others.
Alas, a fully solar charging phone, whether a smartphone or a feature phone, is still a dream for the future when solar panels become more efficient.
Heavy sigh.
