Looking quickly over the headlines across the mobile phone and tablet industries, we’ll close today’s postings with a brief run-down of new developments and status reports.
Tablet Saturdays will return next week.
Philharmonic First
The New York Philharmonic Orchestra paused its 82-minute presentation of Gustav Mahler’s ninth symphony; the interruption was the first in the orchestra’s history.
While performing this majestic, transcendental piece, the conductor stopped the performance due to audience displeasure of …
the ringing…and ringing…and ringing…of an iPhone.
The conductor calmly turned and faced the audience, apologized and asked if the ringing was done. He then turned back to the musicians and completed the piece.
The conductor received a standing ovation.
We can’t wait to see what Samsung’s marketing firm does with this!
iPhone 5 Connectivity Possiblity
Without going into long and boring detail, it looks like the whenever-coming iPhone 5 will have compatibility with all 3G and 4G networks, save WiMax, which is a Windows-specific feature. Rumours have it that the connectivity will branch both GSM networks and CDMA networks, which might eventually lead to great price competition across a bunch of retailers.
We doubt, however, that the model will be popular with classical music lovers any time soon.
No Photo (Suit) Finish Yet
There’s no news on the Kodak v HTC and Apple patent violations lawsuit yet. Admittedly, it’s been only a few days, but we’ve read no response from either manufacturer yet.
Because we happen to love camera phones, we’re watching this closely and will update you as we hear more.
