Stating that Nokia enjoyed a positive result from attending CES 2012 would be similar to saying that what happened to the Titanic luxury liner was a mere unfortunate incident. Nokia walked away from the international show with pockets full of awards and accolades for its flagship mobile phone, the Nokia Lumina 900.
Whilst there were fewer smartphones introduced during the show, the Lumina 900 probably would have faired just as well if there had been as many offerings as last year. The Windows Phone model took such prestigious awards as CNET’s Best of CES Smartphones, a Popular Mechanic’s Editor’s Choice Award for CES, and a Popular Science award for “Product of the Future.”
Additionally and although the Nokia Lumina 900 didn’t win the top slot, it was one of the finalists of Laptop Magazine’s “Best of CES” candidates.
The total number of CES attendees reached around 20,000, and any award against that level of competition across so many electronics fields is worth major bragging rights. That one device won three very high-profile awards is practically unheard of.
The Nokia mobile phone brought few actual innovations into the mobile phone industry, but it won the accolades in bringing all its parts into a smooth, sharp and sharply performing machine – the Nokia Lumina 900.

The Nokia Lumina 900 will be available first in the United States. The contracted vendor is AT&T, and both Nokia and the carrier will start a massive advertising campaign very quickly.
AT&T has yet to announce pricing on this smartphone, but the Windows 7.5 Mango device will juxtaposition itself against some well-priced Android models. Admittedly, it’s not designed to be nor does it qualify as a “cheap mobile phone,” but hopefully, it won’t be priced to feel an early departure from the market demand.
