Nokia pushed its way back into the US market last year with a group of smartphones that reintroduced the Finnish company in the eyes of the mobile phone world. One of the last models Nokia introduced in 2011 was the Nokia X2-02, an inexpensive, dual-SIM mobile phone that is aimed at music lovers.
Overview
The modest unit provides some basic functionality with a few changes from the X1-01′s appearance. The handset doesn’t sport the Windows Phone 7 OS that many users have come to automatically associate with Nokia, but it carries a Nokia OS called Series 40 or S 40. Its navigation is a bit different but easily managed.
The keypad keyboard is reminiscent of feature phones, what some call ‘dumbphones,’ and heavy-texting or emailing users will find it aggravating. However, since Nokia intended for this to remain as inexpensive as possible and aimed at very casual users who wanted a cheap mobile phone, Nokia isn’t worried about over-floating this device to an adjusted market.
The dual SIMs are dual-standby, which means you work off of one while the other lies dormant. However, you don’t have to swap SIM cards and restart your phone all the time: The phone allows hot-swapping SIMs.
The model contains only one transceiver, which means that you cannot surf the Internet, for example, and listen to the onboard radio at the same time.
The benefit of a single transceiver is the terrific battery life, shown below.

Overall opinion: For users who just want a basic mobile phone with a few features that won’t break the bank, it’s not bad. The extended battery life counters the dual-standby restrictions nicely.
