After being on rocky ground throughout 2010, smartphone manufacturer Palm now looks set to launch a new mobile, tentatively titled the Pre 2, thanks to a reversal of its fortunes after its acquisition by Hewlett Packard.
French mobile network provider SFR leaked specs and details about the Palm Pre 2 on its blog, but as with many of these accidents, it has since removed any trace of the offending post.
Most interesting among the briefly available facts concerning the Palm Pre 2, is the fact that it will run a brand new version of the webOS platform, for which the manufacturer received significant praise after the launch of the original Pre in 2009.
In terms of raw specs, the Pre 2 will apparently sport a 1GHz processor that will allow it to compete with the best on the market. Palm and HP are also planning to change the display for a model that has a flatter screen, so high end glass might well be in evidence on its release.
Since SFR was able to give quite detailed information relating to the Palm Pre 2 well before any other media outlet had been told, it could be that this closely guarded secret is close to completion.
